Kathy J. Torrente, who retired from the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library at Emory University in 2011, passed away on October 16, 2025.

She served as the Emory University’s Dental School Library Director prior to its closing and then became Head of Reference and Instructional Services of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library under Miriam Libbey, Carol Burns, and then Sandra Franklin.  She was a long time member of GHSLA and an active member of both Southern Chapter and MLA.

She had a deep love of the Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves.  She was intelligent and had a quick wit.  Kathy was well respected by her colleagues and her staff; she will be remembered for her wonderful smile and kind heart.
