Save the date: ALA’s LLAMA Career Institute, 2017 in Atlanta

Join the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) for the 6th LLAMA Career Institute – entitled Noticing Self:  Developing Emotional Intelligence Skills for Professionals and Leaders – on Friday, January 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. 

Held in conjunction with the American Library Association’s (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, this half-day LLAMA Career Institute will feature Pearl Alexander, an Atlanta-based speaker and coach and Executive Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).  More information may be found here.

The LLAMA Career Institute is open to all. Registration costs will cover workshop materials and an afternoon refreshment break. Costs for this LLAMA Career Institute are:

  • $175 for LLAMA Divisional Members (use event code “LAM1” when registering);
  • $225 for ALA members;
  • $100 for Students and Retired Members; and
  • $325 for Non-Members.

On-site registration will be subject to availability and will be $325.

Introduced at the 2013 ALA Midwinter Meeting, the LLAMA Career Institute is a continuing education offering aimed at early-career professionals and professionals at any career stage seeking to acquire new knowledge, skills, and competencies in support of active and ongoing career development or potential career changes.

MLA Webinar, March 15, 2016, Morehouse School of Medicine

The M. Delmar Edwards, M.D. Library is hosting an MLA Webinar on the campus of Morehouse School of Medicine.

Managing from the Middle: Balancing People, Projects, and Vision with Confidence will take place Tuesday, March 15th, 2016, from 2:00-3:30 pm. The presenter will be Pat Wagner and attendees will receive 1.5 CE contact hours.

The Webinar aims to:

  • Help participants who have current responsibilities in middle management feel more confident and competent in decision making.
  • Help participants who are interested in middle management gain insight into the challenges and strategies in middle-management decision making.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify one’s personal strengths in middle management.
  • Learn how to avoid micromanagement without losing decision-making oversight.
  • Learn how to improve lateral relationships with middle-manager colleagues.
  • Balance task-level duties with ”big picture” vision.

Free NN/LM Class: Promoting Health Literacy Through Easy-To-Read Materials
