12 Days to the GHSLA State Conference

Start the MLA Annual Meeting off with your local colleagues!

This year’s meeting will include Miriam Libbey speaker, Dr. Jonathan Eldredge, an annual business meeting, and networking opportunities with Georgia health sciences librarians.

2018 Changes

Effective January 1, 2018, the Atlanta Health Science Library Consortium (AHSLC) merged with the Georgia Health Sciences Library Association (GHSLA). AHSLC history and archives have been transferred to the www.GHSLA.org website and www.AHSLC.org is no longer active.

Apply for an MLA Committee

Every year, MLA issues a call for volunteers to serve on MLA committees, task forces, and juries or as allied representatives to fill open positions. The application for 2018/19 volunteers is now available on MLANET. Your involvement in MLA committees is essential to MLA’s success.

The application focuses on your personal volunteering interests, availability, skills, and prior service to MLA. Key dates are:

Application start date: November 1, 2017
Application close date: December 15, 2017
Notification of appointment: March 1, 2018
Early bird registration for MLA ’18 ends: April 11, 2018

Note: You must be an MLA member to apply for a committee at the time of your application and during your term as a member of a committee.

AHSLC/GHSLA Merger

Effective January 1, 2018, the Atlanta Health Science Library Consortium (AHSLC) will merge with the Georgia Health Sciences Library Association (GHSLA).

The Executive leadership of GHSLA proposed the merger in 2016 as an opportunity to ensure continued success for each group. By merging duplicate functions and structures, while respecting the history of each group, it is anticipated that the alliance will broaden the organization’s impact and create a stronger future for its members.

The GHSLA bylaws have been updated to incorporate AHSLC priorities and meeting schedule and were approved by the membership in April, 2017. GHSLA meetings will now be four times a year with the May meeting being considered the State Conference.

In November, GHSLA and AHSLC members will be sent 2018 GHSLA membership applications. AHSLC history and archives will be transferred to the www.GHSLA.org website and www.AHSLC.org will no longer be active after January 2018.
