Congratulations to Recipients of the Legacy Scholarship and Member Travel Stipend

Terri Hatfield and Erin Reardon are the recipients of the 2017 Legacy Scholarship.  Both are students in the Master of Library and Information Science program at Valdosta State University.

Terri currently works in an academic department at the University of Georgia.  Having a “nearly lifelong, personal curiosity in evidence-based medicine and complementary and integrative medicine,” Terri has focused many of her course projects on health sciences librarianship, and she looks forward to working in an environment where she can impact patients, family members, and clinicians by meeting their information needs.

Erin is currently doing fieldwork at Mercer University’s Monroe F. Swilley, Jr., Library.  Through her research and work in an academic health sciences library setting, Erin has developed an interest in “educating future clinicians in the use of the resources available to them” and looks forward to learning more about partnering with faculty and clinicians in the CE course “Building Partnerships with Faculty, Clinicians and Other Stakeholders.”

Established to provide assistance to a student enrolled in a library and information studies program or paraprofessional interested in the health sciences, the Legacy Scholarship honors individuals who made significant contributions to health sciences librarianship in Georgia and beyond:

The Scholarship Committee would like to acknowledge additional funding for this year’s scholarship and stipends provided by a grant from the National Library of Medicine.
